Entry Acceptance Rules

Each entry will consist of two 10 to 12 ounce capped bottles void of all identifying information (raised lettering on re-used commercial beer bottles is OK). Printed caps are allowed, but must be blacked out completely.

12oz brown glass bottles are preferred; however, green and clear glass will be accepted. Please try to avoid entering corked bottles, swing tops, bombers, wine bottles, and anything else that may not fit neatly in a standard 24-bottle case. Such bottles make it difficult to stack cases.

Bottles will not be returned to contest entrants.

Completed entry forms and recipe sheets must be submitted with all entries, and can be printed directly from this website. Entry forms should be attached to bottle labels by the method specified on the bottle label.

Please fill out the entry forms completely. Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges’ scoring of your entry.

Brewers are not limited to one entry per category or style.

Shipping Info

Packing and Shipping

Carefully pack your entries in a sturdy box. Line the inside of your carton with a plastic trash bag. Partition and pack each bottle with adequate packaging material. Please do not over pack!

Write clearly: Fragile. This Side Up. on the package. Please only use bubble wrap as your packing material.

Enclose each of your bottle labels in a small zip-top bag before attaching to their respective bottles. This way it makes it possible for the organizer to identify specifically which entry has broken if there is damage during shipment.

Every reasonable effort will be made to contact entrants whose bottles have broken to make arrangements for sending replacement bottles.

If you live in the United States, please note that it is illegal to ship your entries via the United States Postal Service (USPS). Private shipping companies have the right to refuse your shipment if they are informed that the package contains glass and/or alcoholic beverages. Be aware that entries mailed internationally are often required by customs to have proper documentation. These entries might be opened and/or returned to the shipper by customs officials at their discretion. It is solely your responsibility to follow all applicable laws and regulations.

Best of Show

Best of Show winner for beer will be awarded a 10 gallon brewing kettle, courtesy of Spike Brewing.

Best of Show winner for meads will be awarded a special prize, courtesy of the National Honey Board.

Awards

The awards ceremony will take place at our HHHC Banquet, held the evening of December 9.  The banquet is open to all St.Louis Brews members, along with judges and stewards for the competition.  The banquet and awards ceremony is not open to the general public.

Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category/table. The 1st place entry in each category will advance to the Best of Show (BOS) round with a first, second, and third place Best of Show beers selected.

Scoresheets will be scanned and available in electronic format.  Results will be posted to the competition web site after the awards announcement at the HHHC banquet.  We (including the organizers) need a break after such a hectic week.  Please allow us time to enjoy the banquet.  We will have the results posted the next day (December 10), and will do our best to scan the score sheets as quickly as we can and email them out to contestants.
